Self perception

Your thoughts about YOURSELF are crucial in your personal growth. Your actions and attitude are rooted in your self-perception. We can think “more highly” of ourselves than we ought to and we can think some crazy things about ourselves. How do you develop a healthy self-perception?

A healthy mind understands that your identity is totally based on God’s grace. Without the grace of God, you would be nothing! But because of the grace of God, you are saved, a child of the King, and a part of the community of faith. Grace humbles you and keeps everything in perspective. After addressing the renewal of our minds in Romans 12:2, the first subject is the way you view yourself. The first mention on that subject is the grace of God.

We are to evaluate the way we think about ourselves and use “sound judgment.” Avoid thinking too highly of yourself!

“For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.” Romans‬ ‭12:3‬ ‭NASB‬‬
