Timeless truths about masks. Only my wife can spot when I am wearing a “mask.” It may be that my heart is deeply troubled but I have a smile on my face. Or I am really irritated about something but I look calm. Some “masks” are normal and healthy. Let’s face it, you don’t want to go through life wearing your emotions on your face!
However, we don’t want to go through life wearing a fake “face”! We are being untrue to ourselves when we play the part that the world squeezes us into. You know the part: retaliate, envy, compromise, demand your way, lose control, lie. The list goes on and on. We are to be conformed to the image of Christ, not the image of culture.
How do we keep from becoming like jello poured into the mold of the world? First, we must daily put our body on the altar!! We must deny the demands of the flesh. Romans 12:1
Second, we must be transformed by joining the Lord in renewing our minds. That means we must pour truth into our minds. We take captive ungodly thoughts. We allow the Holy Spirit to dismantle false fortresses that have been erected in our minds that were built by the fallen world and our fallen nature.
Take the mask off and reflect the glory of Christ who rules in your heart.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 NASB
