Timeless truths about the Gospel. An absolutely key component of the Gospel is that all people of all time are sinners. None are righteous. All have rebelled against God. All have sinned. Paul makes this clear in chapters 1-3 but drives the point home in chapter 3. There is no ambiguity in this point.
Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon? It is amazing. The distance from one side to the other is breathtaking. If you imagine trying to jump from one side to the other on your own physical power, you would immediately admit such a proposition is preposterous. It is just as impossible for any person to get to enter a relationship with God based on their own merit. There is no way possible.
In Romans 4 we learn the only basis for that relationship.
“as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:10-11, 23 HCSB
