Timeless truths about God’s discipline. God loves you too much to allow you to remain in a state of disobedience. Disobedience takes on many forms. You can be disobedient in action, inaction, thought, motive, and word. When you are disobedient, the Holy Spirit convicts you. If you listen, you turn away from your sin. If you refuse to listen, God will send a storm your way. That’s exactly what He did to Jonah.
Jonah’s disobedience and calloused heart not only impacted his life but also the lives of others. Think for a minute about those who were caught up in Jonah’s storm. They lost their cargo because of Jonah. They almost lost their ship.
When we disobey, it always impacts others around us. If you hear His gentle prompting, do not ignore Him. If you are caught up in a storm right now, ask the Lord if there is any sin that you need to repent of. Ask Him if there is a lesson to be learned. Or, ask Him if you may be caught up in the storm of a disobedient person.
