Timeless truths about condemnation. A spirit of condemnation speaks words of condemnation. The Bible commands us to avoid speaking “against one another.” Why? Because we rarely, if ever, know the full truth. Only God knows that. When we speak against another believer, we are positioning ourselves as judges. There is only one judge and He is the one who gave the Law.
Today, seek to only say those things that build up. When you catch yourself speaking against another family member, remind yourself that Jesus is the only judge. Refrain from putting yourself in His place. Exercise discipline. Then begin to look at your heart and ask yourself why you feel if is important to speak against someone else. Does it make you look better? Do you feel more valuable? Does doing so justify guilt in your heart?
James 4:11-12 Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?
