Timeless truths about the benefits of teaching. While those who teach will be held to a “stricter judgment” there are incredible benefits to teaching God’s Word. First, the teacher is the primary learner. If you really want to learn, teach. Second, those who teach invest in others. Teachers practice multiplication because students will pass on what they learn to others and the process repeats itself. Third, teachers usually feel the responsibility and weight of sharing truth. Godly teachers will sincerely seek to not only know the truth but to also live it. Fourth, God uses teachers to change people. His word is alive and will accomplish what He desires. When you teach God’s truth, you are an instrument in the hand of God. Fifth, godly teachers are humble. It has been said that when the island of knowledge grows the shoreline of ignorance does so proportionally. Sixth, godly teachers are also shepherds. Some “teachers” are concerned with dispensing information. Godly teachers genuinely care about those they teach. Teachers are a blessing to others. I pray that if God calls you to teach, you will respond obediently.
“Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.” James 3:1 NASB
