Timeless truths about wisdom. “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 What is wisdom? It isn’t street or book smarts. Wisdom is making decisions based on God’s perspective. Wisdom is not only learning from the mistakes of others but being able to SEE the reason why their choices were not best.
A decision could be characterized as very good and yet unwise. How? Take a job offer for example. A person my accept a job offer making over 30% more money. In addition, perks include season tickets to their favorite sporting team. It sounds like a no-brainer and many would consider taking the job a great choice. Yet, it could be very unwise if it involved sacrificing time with family, compromising morality and conscience, etc.
I probably pray for wisdom more than anything else. We simply are not smart enough to make the best choices because we do not know what is ahead. God does. Leaning into Him and listening to Him is that wisest thing you can do when facing decisions. Do not force yourself to make a decision until you have the mind of Christ on it.
Walk in wisdom today.
