Timeless truths from Philippians 4:10.
Opportunity! The Greeks had a statue representing “opportunity.” As you approached it, you saw long flowing hair. But once you passed the statue and looked back, the back had no hair. Their message: Once you pass opportunity you cannot reach back and grab it!
The church at Philippi did not have an opportunity to financially support Paul’s ministry. However, when they did, they grabbed it. Today you will have all kinds of opportunities to speak a kind word, encourage another person, add value to others, seize the moment and make a difference.
Biblical historians tell us that the church at Philippi was one of the most impoverished churches of her time. Yet, her lack of resources did not prevent her from doing what she could. Let that be a lesson for us. You may not have tremendous resources, but you can make a tremendous difference by grabbing every opportunity to add value to others.
“But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity.” Philippians 4:10 NASB
