Timeless truths from Philippians 2:17-18.
Impending death as a way of blowing away the smokescreens. Paul knew he could be executed at any time. He was in prison. He shared a sobering view of his purpose in life. I want to challenge us to think along those lines. What is your purpose?
Paul stated that his life was being “poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith.” In other words, he was saying his life was all about sacrificing for others while serving others for the Kingdom of God.
As I think about Paul’s purpose and the difference this one man made in the lives of so many people, I must ask myself – “Is my life being poured out as an offering to God through the sacrifice and service of our Lord to the people of faith?” That may be a great question for you to ask. Maybe we need to embrace that purpose and then live it.
“But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.” Philippians 2:17-18 NASB
