Purpose unifies

Timeless truths from Philippians 2:1-2.

Purpose unifies! A football team has one purpose-defeat the opponent. All positions work together for the same objective. Purpose prioritizes! There are some things that are eclipsed by the objective. People of purpose make a difference in life because they are focused. They are not pursuing three things or even two things. They pursue one thing!

The purpose of the church is to glorify God. There is encouragement in Christ, comfort in His love, and fellowship in the Spirit. Since these things are true, we are to be of the same mind, love, and spirit with one purpose. It begins with the attitude of Christ. He glorified God by exalting the Father’s holiness, justice, love, grace, and righteousness on the cross!

The body of Christ, the church, brings glory to God when we are unified in purpose. Our purpose is rooted in the truth which brings about unity of mind. We experience the love of God so we share the love of God with one another. We have the Spirit of Christ so we are united in Spirit. We are intent to bring glory to God.

Are you living in unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ? If not, why not? Are you grounding yourself in the truth of God’s Word? Do you stand on timeless truths and prioritize your life accordingly? Will you join with other believers who are intent on bringing Glory to God and serve together in unity?

“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” Philippians‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭NASB‬‬
