Timeless truths from Philippians 1:6.
God is at work all round you. But He is also at work in you! When you trusted in Jesus Christ as your Lord, God started a “good work in you.” What work is that? He is seeking to accomplish that which He predestined before the foundation of the world – that you be conformed to the image of Jesus. God’s work doesn’t strip us of our unique personalities. Rather, He works to maximize the intention of His original plan for us. His desire is that you become like Jesus in your character.
The Lord started this work in you the moment you were saved. It involves the transformation of your mind (Romans 12:1-2). God works with you as you seek to renew your mind by replacing “stinking thinking” with “sanctified thinking.” You must implant truth in your mind by meditating & memorizing His word. But you must also practice the truth in order to release the power of His work.
Our Lord will finish what He started. We are a work in progress. We haven’t arrived. But one day we will have a glorified mind and body. We will be like Jesus. He “will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” So, one day the project will be perfect. We will then be delivered from sin’s presence just as we have already been delivered from sin’s power. You could say, “BCBGNFWMY” = “Be careful because God’s not finished with me yet!”
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NASB
